Electric Hydrofoil One Question Interview with David Vukovič
The title says it all. We asked David Vukovič one question, and we got all the answers. So, not to be boring reporters, we said thank you and decided to go with the awesome story.
David is the creator of FLYING RODEO ELECTRIC HYDROFOIL
The most awesome question in the world we asked him was:
Who are you exactly and why did you make electric hydrofoils?
David: Who am I and why e-foil? Hm…
Since ever I was into sports. I could call myself an adrenaline junkie because I love sports that make my blood run faster.
I’m especially fond of kite-boarding. You’re totally dependant on weather circumstances, particularly the wind.
Beside my sporting undertakings, I was also very active in my day job. We worked for KTM-X-BOW (The KTM X-Bow (pronounced crossbow) is an ultra-light sports car for road and race use, produced by Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM. It is the first car in their product range. It was launched at the Geneva Motor Show in 2008.) and I had an opportunity to work in the pit-stop area at Panoniaring race.
Later I also had the opportunity to drive it myself. It gives you a sense of freedom but it cannot compare to the freedom of kite-boarding.
We also worked for the aviation industry and with all the knowledge and experiences I was always coming back to my hobbies … wind and freedom.
I finally decided to develop a popular kite foil which with enough wind lifts you from the water so that you glide with your board just above it. The feeling was liberating but there was always and I mean always just not enough wind. At least for me because I would kite all night and day long. But all I had was a few days a year.
Slowly my second “baby” started to go build up … e-foil Flying Rodeo.
After just one year I did it. I’ve created an unbelievably fast and economical electric foil which doesn’t limit me to those few windy days a year. It did take me a year of research and exciting tests but I did it all myself, all the designs and all the components of Flying Rodeo.
There are still many improvements to be done and so many ideas to incorporate. I believe this project will mature and will eventually be polished to perfection.

There are many more fresh ideas on the horizon waiting to be realized. Of course, all of them incorporate water one way or another.
Albert Einstein once said: “If at first, the idea is not absurd, then there is no hope for it.”
For now, this idea will stay with me. And for you just sit back and relax – I most definitely will not disappoint you.
