Varla Eagle One EvNerds New York Review
Eagle One is a very capable scooter with power comparable to a low spec E-Moto, I love the full suspension setup that gives it a very plush feel when going over bumps or jumping off a curb. It’s a very stable ride at 30-35mph and it does reach that 40mph on a full charge but I honestly wouldn’t want to go any faster on a scooter it’s safer on an E-Motorcycle.
I still cannot believe how great these hydraulic brakes are and how on point I am with stopping from a high speed to a full stop, if you are talented enough you can do stoppies or wheelies with this beast. I had a whole month of use out of this scooter and it took me around places comfortably even with the New York City potholes.
I wish this scooter had a little bit more lighting but you get decent visibility it is still good enough with the LED lights that are mounted on the scooter frame. For city use, these street tires are good quality and give me a good grip on the road and when you kick in the dual hub motor mode and have the controller set on max this thing grabs the road and takes off.
The 52v 18.2 (946wh) battery life is what I expected with a scooter that can pack a punch with two 1000w hub motors that consume the battery quick especially with how I ride so I usually use this for short distance runs, but when I do rides at a slow pace I put on ECO mode for the whole duration of the ride to get that 40 miles range which I did one-day doing deliveries for about 8 hours straight.
Overall The VARLA Eagle One is a very useful means of transportation and for the price, you are getting a good deal for how solid of a product this is all around. A good quality scooter that keeps up with traffic and has full suspension to give you a comfortable ride and brakes that stop on a dime.
